
Holiday Apple Cider Ham
Ingredients
- 1 smoked black forest Ontario ham
- 1 1/2 cups 375 mL apple cider or juice
- 1 large apple cored and cut in chunks
- 1/2- inch 1 cm piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp 15 mL cornstarch
- 1 tbsp 15 mL water
Instructions
- Place ham in slow cooker. Pour in cider. Add ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle apple all around ham. Cover and cook on High for 2 hours or until thermometer reaches 140°F (60°C).
- Remove ham to cutting board and slice thinly.
- Whisk cornstarch with water and stir into slow cooker. Cook, stirring for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with ham.
