
One Pan Pork Chops
Ingredients
- 4 boneless Ontario pork loin chops about 1 lb/500 g
- 1/2 tsp 2 mL each salt and pepper
- 1/2 tsp 2 mL dried thyme
- 1 tbsp 15 mL each canola oil and butter
- 2 apples cored and sliced
- 2 shallots thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp 45 mL light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp 1 mL ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup 125 mL apple cider or apple juice
- Chopped parsley
Instructions
- Sprinkle pork chops all over with salt, pepper and thyme.
- In a large skillet, heat oil and butter over medium-high heat. Brown chops on both sides and remove to a plate.
- Add apples and shallots and sauté for about 3 minutes or until starting to brown. Reduce heat to medium. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon all over apple mixture. Add apple cider and bring to a simmer.
- Return pork chops to pan and turn to coat with sauce. Simmer gently for about 8 minutes or until sauce is reduced slightly and meat thermometer registers 155ºF (68ºC) when tested.
- Tip: Apple Cider with or without alcohol can be used in this recipe.
